PUREEF-Y – InPlasTwin WORKSHOP 1

“Practical Approaches for Sampling and Extraction of Microplastics from Soil, Sediment, Compost, and Biota“

This workshop, “Practical Approaches for Sampling and Extraction of Microplastics from Soil, Sediment, Compost, and Biota,” organized jointly by the InPlasTwin (GA101160289) and PUREEF-Y (GA101158830) projects, provides an integrated overview of current methods for the extraction of microplastics across diverse environmental matrices. Aimed at PhD students, researchers, scientists, and environmental professionals, the session highlights practical methodologies and quality assurance considerations essential for reliable microplastic assessment. Expert presenters cover sample preparation and QA/QC protocols for soil analysis, techniques for separating microplastics from marine sediments, oleo-extraction approaches for biodegradable microplastics in compost, and hands-on strategies for sampling and extracting microplastics from biota. The workshop equips participants with foundational and advanced tools to better understand and monitor microplastic pollution.
