Consortium

PUREEF-Y promotes an interdisciplinary, cross-sectorial, and international approach to R&I. The consortium unites the necessary multidisciplinary knowledge, expertise, skills, and resources to constitute a coherent cluster of partners in chemical oceanography and marine ecology, which together can achieve the project’s ambitious objectives.

CMMI - Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) was established in 2019 as a Centre of Excellence for marine and maritime research, innovation and technology development and it is based in Larnaca, Cyprus. CMMI’s vision is to drive sustainable Blue Growth by addressing the needs of industry and society within the spectrum of the marine and maritime sectors. In the project, CMMI’s involvement will be mainly led by the CMMI Research and Innovation Support Unit (RISU) and CMMI Marine and Coastal Ecology Centre (MarCEC) that is one of 10 research centres at CMMI supporting R&I in marine ecology.

UAB - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is a young, public university, a leader in international rankings and a benchmark in research. The Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB) is a multidisciplinary centre that promotes academic research and postgraduate education in environmental sciences. It undertakes cutting-edge research and training on interactions between humans and Earth systems, to build integrative and applied knowledge for a sustainable future. In addition, it studies policies, strategies, and technologies to foster a transition to a sustainable economy. ICTA-UAB will bring its expertise to the project in marine pollution, management plans and policy influence.

IOLR - Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research

IOLR is a national research institution established in 1967 to generate knowledge for the sustainable use and protection of Israel’s marine, coastal and freshwater resources. Within the framework of its overall mission, the research effort of IOLR is directed at three strategic objectives, one of which focuses on the Marine and Coastal Environment (Oceanography): The National Institute of Oceanography in Haifa focuses on the creation and dissemination of knowledge to support the fostering and management of Israel’s marine and coastal resources. IOLR will bring its expertise to the project in the fields of chemical oceanography, marine ecology and experimental design.
